Remembering Armistice Day at Heckington Church

Today, Years 5 & 6 were fortunate enough to visit St Andrew's Church to see their ‘Sea of Poppies’ display as part of the Heckington 100 project, which is being done to mark the centenary of the First World War. This unique display of poppies, for Remembrance Sunday, contains over 18,000 knitted poppies, which have been handcrafted by people across Lincolnshire and around the world.

The children had a wonderful time discovering new facts and thinking about the impact war can have on families and friends. they had a tour of the church's exhibitions and also spent some time sketching our interpretations of the poppy displays.
