Year 5 Priory Ruskin Science Extravaganza

Year 5 Priory Ruskin Science Extravaganza

On Friday 16th September 2016 the children in Year 5 set off on the relatively short trip to the Priory Ruskin Academy, for a ‘Science Extravaganza’ that had been prepared for us.

Mixing with three other schools in the local area, there were a variety of different activities for us all to participate in. Many activities caught our imaginations and we had a chance to participate in and watch activities we wouldn’t normally get to do. One of the most gripping of these was when we used Bunsen Burners to heat different materials to see how they change when exposed to extreme heat. Another was when we watched one of the teachers dissect a (non-human) heart so we could see all the valves and pathways inside.

We arrived back at St Anne’s School, just in time for the celebration assembly and to explain to everyone where we had been and what we had learnt at our Science Extravaganza.
